The second edition is already scheduled. It will take place between October 30th and November 1st. It arrives for three days of festivities – one more than last year – and promises a vast program that celebrates the seventh art, but not only.
There will be screenings of American and Portuguese films, series, podcasts, music showcases, as well as live conversations with international and local stars.
The Beato Innovation District, on the Tagus River, home to Lisbon’s Unicorn Factory and a cultural hub for startups, is once again the main meeting point. The festival will feature “improved spaces, enhanced exhibits and an even more welcoming atmosphere for all attendees.”
For Francisco Pedro Balsemão, CEO of Impresa Group, “the first year of Tribeca Festival Lisboa was an incredible and unique experience for the Portuguese public. We are thrilled to host this event once again, where we will increase the talent, quality content and unforgettable conversations.
The mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, says that the return of the event to the Portuguese capital means a reinforcement of the “commitment to culture and artistic innovation”.
Stars, movies and lots of conversations
The first edition, which had SIC and Opto as partners, opened with the Portuguese premiere of “Anora” by Sean Baker. But there were several highlights of the festival.
Attendees were able to enjoy live conversations with Tribeca co-founders Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal, Whoopi Goldberg and artists such as Patty Jenkins, Griffin Dunne, Chazz Palminteri, Ricardo Araújo Pereira, Daniela Ruah, Sara Sampaio, Joaquim de Almeida and César Mourão.
The film festival first expanded internationally between 2009-2012 with the Doha Tribeca Film Festival, the first film festival in Qatar.
