W. Kamau Bell
Comedy, directing and journalism meet in the career of one of contemporary storytelling’s sharpest guests.
W. Kamau Bell is one of the confirmed special guests of Tribeca Festival Lisboa. A comedian, director, producer and host, Bell has built a public voice that combines humour, listening and social analysis.
His official bio presents him as host and executive producer of the five-time Emmy-winning documentary series United Shades of America, and director and producer of the documentary 1000% Me: Growing Up Mixed. He is also associated with the series We Need to Talk About Cosby and a written body of work that includes The Awkward Thoughts of W. Kamau Bell.
His presence at the festival extends a storytelling practice that crosses stage, television and film: using comedy to open difficult conversations and bring different social experiences closer together.
