About the event

A film by Diogo Brito, featured in the festival’s Portuguese selection, Good Morning (some kind of prayer) is a film guided through the mother's lens, which approaches the theme of autism not as a burden, but as an opportunity for (greater) closeness among everyone.

A family recently moves to a small village in Northern Portugal, near Porto, to create a calmer and freer environment for their youngest son, Tito, a 5-year-old non-verbal autistic boy. The story spans a single week that adds to so many others where everything repeats, yet it will end unlike almost any before it.

A short film that aims to convey a message of hope to all families and friends living with an atypical condition, while also serving as a wake-up call for how much work still needs to be done—particularly in mitigating social injustice regarding school inclusion, financial support for therapies, and, broadly speaking, fostering a deeper understanding of what it means to be intrinsically different and to live—both personally and as a family—outside of mainstream normalization or the condition of normality accepted as conventional, which so heavily dictates the way we look at one another, at ourselves, and at our loved ones.
